an excerpt from a speech entitled "CHANGE IN THE UNIVERSITY". You will like it

"..Things Change; humans change. The weather changes; character and attitude swing like the pendulum, they change. Talking about the latter, I would like to relay this anecdote. I beg (for those who know me) to be pardoned for the inconsistencies that may be found herein, and I pray, you enjoy it for the purpose it serves; for the ultimate aim of literature--dictatism and entertainment--it hopes to display.
In 2004, while I was gunning for my first degree in a state university (in the East), three new lecturers were employed by my department. One was to take us on a course in her epoch class at the university. At first, that is, within that her first semester at the university, she was all I dreamt of a lecturer to be; my ideal lecturer. She was open to us; we could always ask her questions pertaining the course anywhere, almost anytime, too. Usually she would say: 'Pascal you seem not to understand. Anyway, you can always come to my office for clarification.' For the records, she did this for anyone and everyone who showed an atom of interest in learning.
Then in 2005 (my graduation year), fortunately (as I had thought) or unfortunately (as it later turned out), she was to take us on another course. She literally became a different person; she now was like just the other lecturers--harsh, disrespectful and proud. Always telling us how bad we were as students, but not doing anything to salvage the situation. Feeding us on the pessimistic diet every time they had the opportunity. They did nothing; or maybe, they did little. But whatever they did was almost always still in line with continuing the vicious circle. So, Dr (Mrs) Uchendu CHANGED. She was like one called to a lecturers’ roundtable and warned to be strict, harsh and not to listen to students; a failure to do this would send her back to where she came from.
Let me conclude by saying: People change. Almost everything can change; even God changed his mind on Nineveh. This system, this level of relationship between students and teachers can CHANGE. If not, the growing loss of confidence in the academics will plunge the country's university system into a disastrous realm. Thank you."

"PAR AMOUR"

I am your shadow Following you wherever you lead Like a sheep to the abattoir I am your fragrance Emitting airs of lust and desire Like a king’s cologne I am your soul Separated only in body Like a newly married couple I am your ola Steady on your neck, wrists, and ankles Shining like the gifts of the Queen of Sheba But suddenly the air of love cracks Smells of despair, desolation and gloom Fill the air, creating Vast images of nothing. Now, you no longer say “I am” Your speech filled with “I was” Said with great conviction That could crack an egg. Leading me all this way my love, Why abandon me to wallow In the wilderness of love? Dying gradually, in no haste but slow? Why turn all my love to lust The soothing touches of my palms to spikes? Mon amour, pourquoi tu me laisser comme ce Prend avec toi ma sante?
